By Seo Ji-eun Korea's first satellite dedicated to space research, Science and Technology Satellite-1, sent its initial signal Monday night, wiping out concerns that it had been lost. "We made successful contact with ST Sat-1 at 11:24 p.m., five minutes after the 11th attempt, when it was in orbit over the Korean Peninsula," said researchers at the Space Research Center of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. The institute, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, was responsible for designing, producing and managing the satellite.
