A wide range of colorful ceremonies aimed at marking the 55th National Armed Forces Day will take place in Seoul and across the nation today, offering a glimpse of Korea's military might with its flagship weaponry going on display for the public.
For the first time in five years, a mass military parade will return to the capital, featuring a number of high-tech defense items together with marching soldiers, military officials said.
The large-scale parade will begin in Namdaemun at 3 p.m. and separate into two directions when reaching Gwanghwamun via City Hall, with infantry divisions heading westward through Sinmunro and mechanized units passing through Jongno to Dongdaemun.
Accordingly, vehicles will be barred from entering vast areas around downtown Seoul from noon until 5:30 p.m., police said.
