Byline: German partner may charter in two more vessels to keep existing service intact, writes Janet Porter

GERMAN company West-Afrika Linien-Dienste has been left in the lurch by P'O Nedlloyd, which is withdrawing from the Europe-West Africa trades.

P'O Nedlloyd has decided to terminate the joint service by the end of November.

WAL, a well established African trades specialist, is now reviewing its options but is determined to continue with a service.

'We will stay there,' said Graf (Count) Strachwitz, managing director of WAL and also chairman of the Europe West Africa Trade Agreement.
