The World Markets Research Centre (WMRC) has published the results of its global terrorism index 2003-2004.
The index examines the possibility of terrorist action in 186 countries around the world, defining terrorism by five main criteria: violence, premeditation, ideology, fear and groups or individuals.
It also rates each country by the motivations of any terrorist organisations for taking action, the presence of active groups in the region, the scale of any attacks that they can make, the effectiveness of the attacks and the counter-terrorism capabilities that the government of each country can deploy to detect and deter any actions.
First in WMRC's terrorism index is Columbia, where both left-wing guerillas and right-wing paramilitary groups are active at the moment.
