Typhoon Maemi caused widespread damage when it hit South Korea and the Okinawan islands to the south of Japan in September.
The typhoon was the most powerful windstorm to hit the islands since 1968. Winds of up to 123mph damaged houses and cars, sank three fishing vessels and downed power lines. One person was killed and almost 100 people were injured.
