Croatian President Stipe Mesic has described Slovenia's decision to recall its ambassador for consultations on Croatia's plan to declare an economic zone in the Adriatic Sea as "rash". In a wideranging interview he said that indicted former general Ante Gotovina was not in the country, but must still answer to the Hague tribunal. Mesic said that he would be visiting Belgrade, almost certainly on 10 September, for talks aimed at closing as many open questions as soon as possible. The following is an excerpt from the interview with President Mesic by Croatian radio on 2 September:
