Board demands re-think on kissing teacher.

SAPPORO -- Hokkaido Prefectural Board of Education has been asked to re-think its decision to merely suspend a junior high school teacher who made a habit of kissing his female pupils.

Prefectural government personnel commission officials said the punishment handed out to the teacher in his 30s was too light.

"We are asking for the case to be re-examined to meet society's expectations of and trust in compulsory education," government spokesman Hiroshi Ota said.
