CEBU CITY-One of the two suspected gunmen in the July 24 ambush of Cebu Customs Deputy Collector Eduardo Lao and Customs Appraiser Bennet Soreno has retracted his admission that he was involved in the crime or that he identified another customs official as the mastermind.

Juan Jesus Vergel de Dios, 37, the driver of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) in Cebu, claimed he was coerced by the agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) into admitting he was one of the gunmen in the ambush-slaying.
