Alcoa, which makes Reynolds Wrap, Reynolds Plastic Wrap, Cut-Rite Wax Paper, and other food-storage products, is betting that you'll make room for its new Reynolds Wrap Release nonstick aluminum foil.
In our tests, Release worked, as promised, to make neat work of reheating a cheesy pizza, baking brownies, and cooking oven-barbecued chicken and roasted potatoes. Cheese, batter, and such didn't stick to the foil. (Alcoa says the nonstick coating is food-safe.) But you pay a small premium for the nonstick convenience, and there are alternatives.
A 35-square-foot roll of Release costs $2.50, the same as a 50-square-foot roll of Reynolds Wrap Everyday Heavy Duty foil. That works out to 7 cents a square foot for Release, 5 cents a square foot for Everyday Heavy Duty.
