This peer-reviewed journal aims to provide "a scholarly analysis of technological, legal, historical, educational, and business trends within the music industry and is designed as a resource for anyone currently involved or interested in the music industry. Topics include issues that affect music industry education such as curriculum design, pedagogy, technological innovation, intellectual property matters, industry-related legislation, arts administration, industry analysis, and historical perspectives" (vol. 2, no. 1: [21).
The editor's inaugural welcome presents a slightly different focus, stating "a great need for thoughtful consideration and informed opinion on the issues that will transform the entertainment industry in the 21st century" (vol. 1, no. 1: [10]). The journal is most successful in that context, serving as more of an extended professional (or discussion) journal than a scholarly journal. Authors are university instructions and administrators who teach or have ties with the music business industry.
