THE Offaly County Board last night voted to remove football manager Paul O'Kelly from his position.

After a heated 90-minute debate at their monthly meeting in Tullamore, a secret ballot was conducted and delegates voted by 38 votes to 24 to dispense with O'Kelly.

His swift removal has led to suspicions that a high-profile replacement has already beenlined up to take his place.

But the move looks set to cause deep divisions in the county, with several established players up in arms over the treatment of their manager.
