The tough job market has resulted in the emergence of a new type of secondary school aiming to equip students with both academic and vocational qualifications.

Among the schools opening today after the summer break are eight senior secondary schools catering for 2,300 Form Four students who failed to gain a place in their own schools after finishing Form Three.

Apart from preparing students for the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) and A-Levels, the schools also offer accredited vocational qualifications in areas such as business, tourism industry and design.
