The Department of Justice (DoJ) has ordered the conduct of preliminary investigations on the coup d'etat charges filed against opposition Senator Gregorio B. Honasan, in effect, junking a motion seeking to clarify DoJ's jurisdiction to investigate the case.

In an order dated Sept. 10, 2003, a copy of which was obtained yesterday by reporters, the DoJ also directed Mr. Honasan to file his counter-affidavit and controverting documents on or before Sept. 23 in view of additional evidence submitted by the government.
