For me 2003 has been the summer of reconnection to my former selves through reunions. It's been a time to recall my former friends and teammates, relatives, partners, family ... not to mention offices and homes.

July 2: Pat Groeschell Hockey Game Reunion

Each summer we are blessed to have former hockey teammate Pat Groeschell return to the scene of her crimes from Boulder CO, another top-ranked party school.

Sue Pope rents an hour of ice time and invites current and former teammates and their partners or children. There's usually enough for two lines of five and three or four on the bench, but the tough part is finding two goalies.

Since I hadn't skated in a year, I was a little rusty. Except for forgetting my stick and having to borrow one with a right blade (I shoot left), I did OK. Overcoming the smell of the bag that sat untouched since I last skated a year ago, I put on the equipment in the right order, and did not embarrass myself by going onto the ice with my fuzzy skate guards.

Afterward we went to the Cozy Inn for food and beer, reuniting with former teammates and their people.
