Euro zone retail sales fall 0.6 pct in September.

BRUSSELS (AFX) - Euro zone retail sales fell 0.6 pct in September from August but were up 1.4 pct year-on-year, EU statistics office Eurostat said.

The September decline followed month-on-month increases of 0.5 pct in August and 0.4 pct in July.

Eurostat said it had revised down the August figure from its previous estimate of a 0.7 pct month-on-month rise.

The year-on-year increase for August was revised down to 2.0 pct from 2.4 pct.

Food, drink and tobacco sales rose 0.4 pct in September from August, but non-food sales declined 1.4 pct.
