One of the new cars to be introduced this year is the Infiniti G35, which Motor Trend magazine named its Car of the Year for 2003. The G35 is now the lowest-priced model of Nissan's high-end Infiniti brand, competing against the Lexus IS300, BMW 325i, Mercedes-Benz C240, Cadillac CTS, and Acura 3.2 TL. It comes as a rear-wheel-drive coupe or sedan, and has the same platform as the new Nissan 350Z sports car. We recently bought a G35 sedan for $34,185 including traction and stability control systems, which are standard in this class. A navigation system with a screen that pops up from the dash is $2,000 more. Overall, we found the G35 competitive in its class with a strong, refined drive train. Our initial criticisms center mainly on interior elements. Here's our first look:
The G35 feels quick. The 260-hp, 3.5-liter V6 engine revs smoothly and is paired with a smooth and responsive 5-speed automatic.
