Fisher-Price is recalling nearly a quarter-million "Sparkling Symphony" battery-powered spinning crib mobiles because liquid from corroded batteries could drip onto the infant, possibly causing chemical burns. The company has received 30 reports of leaking batteries, 5 of which resulted in minor burns.
Some mobiles were manufactured without a gasket or seal designed to retain liquid in case batteries corrode and leak, according to Laurie Oravec, a Fisher-Price spokeswoman. "We've devised a foam rubber seal to contain the fluid," she said. The company is urging parents to call if they own one of the mobiles. Here's what you need to know:
