Truman as Ike's running mate?(Insider Report)
A newly discovered 1947 Truman diary reveals that Harry S. Truman, who was president at the time, offered to become Dwight Eisenhower's running mate in 1948, as opposed to running for the top spot himself, on the Democratic Party ticket. He made the offer to Ike because both feared that General Douglas MacArthur might seek the Republican nomination. The diary emerged by accident earlier this year, according to a research aide at the Missouri-based Truman Library.
