SYDNEY, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - The Australian stock market pushed higher at the open today, aided by gains in popular blue chips.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index gained 11.4 points to 3211.1 while the all ordinaries index climbed 12.0 points to 3214.9 by 1015 AEST.
Most of the major banks, Telstra, News Corp and BHP Billiton all pushed ahead at the open.
On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the September share price index contract was six points higher at 3203 - an 8.1 point deficit to the underlying index - on a volume of 2,028 contracts.
