Big bird creates a flap

The first on-court controversy of Bill Self's regime at Kansas has erupted: Is the new Jayhawks mascot painted on the Allen Fieldhouse floor just too dang big? The bird is a whopping 251/2 feet tall--which is 2 feet bigger than the one on the football field. There are whispers around Lawrence that Roy Williams wouldn't have allowed something that garish, but other fans have flocked to voice their support for the logo in an online poll. Wow. Fly hasn't seen this much talk about a big Jayhawk that does nothing since Eric Chenowith was in school.
