MOSCOW -- Culture Minister Mikhail Shvydkoi is calling on federal and city officials to put a stop to the demolition of the historical Voyentorg, or Military Store, building in downtown Moscow.

Shvydkoi told Ekho Moskvy radio on Thursday that Voyentorg is an architectural landmark and that City Hall has prevented and resisted efforts to register it as a protected building.
