HAD IT been caught on tape, it was an incident befitting a spot on cable television's "World's Wildest Police Videos." The incident was about a woman who led the police on a car chase along the South Superhighway the other day until before she was finally arrested.
The scene started with a woman identified as Maribeth Velayo of Kamuning, Quezon City, flagging down a cab, a Toyota Corolla (PXA 939) near the GMA-7 station, in Quezon City at around 5 a.m.
Velayo told the driver, Benigno Belmes, to drive north on Edsa.
When they came to a Ministop convenience store in Barangay Veterans in Project 7, Velayo told the driver to park on the side of the road before asking him to buy cigarettes.
The unsuspecting driver stepped out of the car. After which, Velayo got behind the wheel and sped off towards Alabang.
