TACLOBAN CITY-"Yes, the President will run."
A top official of the ruling Lakas-CMD in Eastern Visayas has confirmed that President Macapagal-Arroyo will seek a full term in the November 2004 polls.
According to George Tiopes, regional coordinator of Lakas-CMD, the President will probably make a formal announcement in October, "during or after the state visit of United States President George W. Bush."
Improved popularity ratings sealed the decision for Ms Macapagal, he said, referring to the latest Pulse Asia survey, where the President came in second to Sen. Noli de Castro.
Tiopes said that three members of the ruling party's executive committee were here last week to inform Eastern Visayas officials of Ms Macapagal's decision.
