IT'S BACK to normal for Ateneo but certainly not for La Salle.
Three days after getting ambushed by National University, defending champion Ateneo rebounded with a close 56-53 decision over University of the Philippines and secured a Final Four berth in the UAAP men's basketball championship yesterday at the Loyola Gym.
The Eagles leaned on the clutch-shooting of Wesley Gonzales to turn back the hard-fighting Maroons and regain the solo lead with a 9-3 win-loss card.
But the Archers remained in the doldrums after bowing to the Maroons Thursday, taking an 80-59 whipping from NU in the second game that raised the qualifying hopes of Adamson and Santo Tomas.
The Archers dropped to 6-5 behind Far Eastern (8-3) and University of the East (7-3), while enhancing the chances of Adamson (5-6) and UST (4-6) to enter the semis via the backdoor.
