THE NEXT time armed robbers take a bus ride in Metro Manila, it might prove to be their last.
The National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) has disclosed plans of deploying armed policemen on public utility buses in the metropolis.
If plans push through, two-man police teams would be providing security to commuters starting next week, NCRPO Director Reynaldo Velasco told the Inquirer yesterday.
He said they were carefully studying the deployment since the concept brought to mind the dreaded "secret marshals" of Martial Law years.
The secret marshals, who were undercover policemen sent to ride shotgun in public utility vehicles, became notorious for executing robbery suspects.
