Waffle House(TM) Restaurants Celebrate National Waffle Week.
ATLANTA, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Waffles -- the ancient Greeks cooked them; bakers in the Middle Ages designed special cookware for them; the Pilgrims loved them so much they brought them over from Holland to the New World; even Thomas Jefferson fell in love with them while spending time in France.
Flash forward to 1955 when the first Waffle House(TM) restaurant opened its doors in Avondale Estates, Ga. (an Atlanta suburb). Waffle House founders Joe Rogers, Sr., and Tom Forkner loved the crisp, round breakfast food so much they named their company after them. In 2001, Waffle House, Inc. launched National Waffle Week in honor of the world's greatest breakfast food.
National Waffle Week is celebrated the first week of September in honor of the crisp, round, golden treat known as the waffle and the restaurant that brings them to you around the clock.
