fnWEB - Bangkok - August 19, 2003 - The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) plans to increase its income by developing some of its property.

The SRT owns more land than any other state enterprise with over 32,000 hectares. Most of the land is alongside the railroad tracks and is not suitable for commercial development, but the SRT owns 608 hectares of land in Bangkok and 1,632 hectares in other provinces that could be developed. In coordination with other agencies, the SRT is formulating a plan to make better use of this land.
