Spanish mackerel are beginning to show up around the inshore artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico off Lido Key.

Jonnie Walker of the Bay Walker out of New Pass Bait said he caught macks to 4 pounds on live shrimp Wednesday.

There have been scattered kingfish -- especially off Venice -- for a couple of weeks. Kingfish numbers should increase daily, with the peak being around Thanksgiving.
