WELLESLEY, Mass., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Babson College freshmen have earned over $31,000 for charitable organizations while learning the fundamentals of business.
The donations were earned as part of the school's required two-semester course: Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME).
In FME, teams of freshmen begin developing their business plans in the fall semester. These FME teams created an innovative array of products and services: calendars, games, blankets, t-shirts, flavored popcorn, cell phone tags, mosaic pictures, laptop covers, chewing gum and even pillow alarm clocks. In the spring semester, the students launched 14 ventures that earned $31,234 for selected charities.
Over the past eight years, Babson FME businesses have raised over $250,000, which has been donated to local, regional and national non-profit organizations.
In addition to running their businesses, FME students donate their time and resources to local community service agencies of their choice.
