World champion breaststroker Kosuke Kitajima may be a double world record holder in his own right, but the 20-year-old has set himself a new target--to be like Ian Thorpe.

Thrope, the Australian sensation who currently holds the world record in the 200-, 400- and 800-meter freestyle and is the reigning world and Olympic champion in the 400, remains the public face of the sport despite the emergence of American teenager Michael Phelps at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona last month.
