Prosecutors nab suspects spying for mainland China.

Prosecutors and investigators yesterday raided the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology (CIST) in an investigation into the possible leak of highly sensitive anti-submarine intelligence by a middle-rank technician to mainland China via e-mail or postal parcels.

They also arrested two suspects involved in the espionage case and detained a third man - a Chinese American - when he landed at the Chiang Kai-shek International Airport.

Officials of the CIST under the Ministry of National Defense (MND) said the institute has started an evaluation of the possible damage to national security inflicted by the leak.
