TOKYO, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Sumitomo Corp. (TSE:8053) is teaming up with a California-based venture firm to market a new flywheel-type uninterruptible power supply system in Japan.
The system maintains voltage levels during events like lightning strikes, bridging power needs until emergency generators come online.
Sumitomo, which has acquired exclusive Japanese marketing rights for the system, plans to sell it to such entities as hospitals and companies that require a stable power source to operate their servers.
Many firms have such systems, but most are based on batteries and capacitors, making them a poor fit for large output demands.
