CANBERRA, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, may be forced to deal with the impasse between federal Health Minister Kay Patterson and the states over hospital funding.
The federal government has offered the states A$42 billion (US$27 billion) over the next five years, conditional on them matching the funding.
Senator Patterson says Australia cannot afford to delay the health reform agenda, again urging the states to agree to her package.
