MUMBAI, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Led by cement and IT sectors, stocks rallied smartly aiding the sensex to extend its winning streak to 8th straight session on the Bombay Stock Exchange today on fresh purchases by Foreign Institutional Investors as well as operators.

ACC, GACL, Grasim Ind, Infosys Technologies, HCL Tech and Satyam Computers were in the forefront having scored sharp advances on fairly heavy purchases by FIIs which had turned negative by making net sales of Rs 110 million on July 30.

Attributing initial brief resistance to FII negative activity, brokers said fresh investments by foreign funds in the latter part of the session prompted speculators to enlarge their commitments in several blue-chip stocks.
