2003: Heading into the week, Maroth was well on his way to losing 20 games. After 21 starts, he was 5-14 with a 5.28 ERA.

2002: In 21 starts, he was 6-10 with a 4.48 ERA.

Throws: His best pitches are a straight, diving changeup and a sinker that fades down and away from righthanders. His slider has little tilt but good depth. He lacks command on his four-seam fastball. His curveball has a tendency to hang, and his cutter lacks bite.

Velocity: His four-seamer tops out at a pedestrian 88 mph. His sinker reaches 87. He throws his curve and changeups in the mid-70s.
