(From Irish Independent)
ROYAL Bank of Scotland (RBS), the owner of the Shelbourne Hotel, is in negotiations with operators like Hilton and Marriot to run its hotels though the possibility of receivership at the Dublin operation has not been ruled out following the collapse of anattempt to save its debt-laden leaseholder Le Meridien.
It is believed that RBS is in talks with interested parties including Hilton, Marriot and Accor, but it is not clear yet which group is the frontrunner.
Another option open to RBS would be to find an individual operator for the Dublin hotel alone.
It could also decide to put the Shelbourne into receivership, though sources close to the bank said a move like this is unlikely at present.
A spokesman for the bank said the Shelbourne will continue to trade as normal until anoperator is chosen.
RBS had leased the Dublin city centre hotel to Le Meridien as well as ten others.
