ALMOST 3m people in eastern and central China are experiencing the worst drought in a decade with temperatures soaring to 43* C in some areas, writes Edward Ion, Singapore.
And torrential rains that have plagued sections of central and eastern China have moved towards the north-east, where water levels are rising on the Nengjiang river in Heilongjiang province.
In eastern Zhejiang province, some 1.3m people are short of drinking water while 200,000 ha of crops have been damaged, the China Daily said.
