HONORATA S. Dalisay regrets that she had not saved for the rainy days after working as a talent of Sampaguita Pictures for 10 years.
She was 18 when she signed a five-movie-per-year contract with Sampaguita Pictures and became known as Nori Dalisay. She had just been crowned "Miss No. 4" in a beauty and talent contest sponsored by the movie outfit. Amalia Fuentes was "Miss No. 1" and Juancho Gutierrez was "Mr. No. 1."
"Aside from the money I had earned from the movies I made, I had a monthly allowance as an exclusive talent of Sampaguita," says Nori, now 64, in her home in Marikina City. "I also got paid for my TV appearances and out-of-town shows."
She first appeared in the Juancho-Amalia movie "Prince Charming" in 1957. She played second lead roles mostly in Amalia's movies, like "Kundiman ng Puso," "Hahabol-habol" and "Bata ng Lagim."
In 1965, she had a starring role, opposite the late comedian Apeng Daldal, in "Magic Bilao."
