IT LOOKS like Malacanang is not only pressing hard on the Department of Finance to increase revenues; it is also bearing down on Finance Secretary Jose Isidro Camacho to drop his chief of staff as well.
According to the grapevine, Undersecretary Inocencio "Toto" Ferrer handed his irrevocable resignation yesterday after being informed by Malacanang that a newspaper publisher was after his neck.
Prior to his joining the DOF, Ferrer was a senior partner of Carpio, Villaraza and Cruz (what is now Villaraza and Angangco) law firm, the personal lawyers of Gloria and Mike Arroyo.
Ferrer's wife, Christine, a former newspaper society editor, is an active member of Women for Roco, her family being related to presidentiable Raul Roco.
