Glass makers back Asahi bid for protection.

THE GLASS Manufacturers Association of the Philippines Inc. (GMAPI) has called on the government to approve Asahi Glass Philippines' petition for a safeguard measure against imported glass in view of the latter's claim that cheap imports were threatening the viability of its operations.
Asahi, the sole flat glass manufacturer in the country, submitted to the Department of Trade and Industry a petition for the imposition of a safeguard measure in the form of punitive tariff against imported glass mostly from China.
