Byline: Tina Arceo-Dumlao
GROWING up in a family of 10 brothers and sisters can be quite taxing, to say the least, but it planted the seeds of a business that would make Carmencita Cruz-Mabanta one of the country's first and most enduring bazaar organizers.
The 45-year-old Mabanta told the Inquirer that she was the sister who usually volunteered to organize all the family events, which were many, because it was something she simply wanted to do. Menchie is the third child in the family.
She organized all the birthday parties and eventually the weddings of her siblings, applying her passion for organization and her strict attention to the smallest details.
Mabanta eventually made some commercial use of her knack for events organization in 1975 when she organized her first big event with her good friend, Ida Ramos-Henares.
