CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna-A barangay councilor was gunned down by three suspected members of the New People's Army whom he served hot coffee and allowed to spend the night in his house in Barangay Kaytitinga Uno in Alfonso, Cavite on Wednesday night.
Two local volunteer watchmen suffered gunshot wounds.
Cavite police director Roberto Rosales identified the victim as kagawad Bonifacio Banauhan, 37, resident of the remote barangay.
Wounded were Efren Cosino and Efren Bendo.
Investigators said around 8:30 p.m., three armed men came to Banauhan's house and asked for help.
The victim's house was on a hillside, near the boundary of Cavite and Batangas provinces.
