A Questionmark is hanging over Oban's future development as a ferry port after talks - aimed at ironing out objections to the proposed site for a much needed second linkspan - reached stalemate yesterday.
Fishermen and other port users had objected because the planned linkspan would displace 18 metres of valuable berthing space at Oban's harbour. They claimed this would translate into a loss of marine traffic which would cost the local economy about GBP2million a year.
