Section: Research - Thailand has been honored to host the 11th summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in October 2003. This will be a good opportunity for Thailand to widely promote the country's reputation and potentiality to the world community.

Among those countries participating in the summit, Thailand should put more focus on Chile and Peru. Despite the physical distance of Thailand from the two countries, and the fact that they are not well-known to most Thais, both are regarded as emerging marketplaces and investment havens of considerable promise within the Latin American region. Thai businessmen should seek ways to forge cordial relations with these two countries to strengthen economic collaboration with them.

By and large, economic development of Chile and Peru are at the forefront of such progress in South America. Broadening our economic relationship with these countries could pave the way for a greater presence of Thai products in the South American market. Interesting issues relative to …
