VENICE -- City Manager George Hunt has decided not to privatize the city sewer department, at least for the time being.

A man who has given second chances in the past to several employees, notably Deputy City Manager Marty Black, Hunt said sewer supervisors talked him out of turning over operation of the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant to a private company.

All 12 city sewer supervisors met with Hunt in a conference room earlier this month to talk him out of privatization.
