THOUSANDS of defence jobs are being threatened because of secret Whitehall plans to scrap a multi-million-pound scheme to repair British military jets, a union leader claimed yesterday.
Jack Dromey, national organiser of the Transport and General Workers' Union, said the future of the Defence Aviation Repair Agency (Dara) was in doubt only five months after the Government gave the go-ahead for a GBP70million investment in a project called Red Dragon at a site in St Athan, South Wales.
