STUNNED godfathers are not comfortable with the bashing they have been getting in the last two weeks, particularly with the presumptuous proposals that they should be prosecuted. Who would dare do that? The Nigerian public is obviously unaware of the enormous powers that godfathers wield.

Diary learnt that a meeting of the Conference of Godfathers, CoF, a formerly unknown body that liked to operate from the background, has concluded plans to seek formal registration at the National Assembly.

The move has double implications at least. One is a law recognising godfathers, the other is their desire to have legal instruments that would give them direct …
