The "Trendsetters" article in your 50th Anniversary Auto Issue was a blissful road trip to nostalgia land. The first car I bought with money I'd earned myself was a 1959 VW Beetle. I paid $100. On that car, I learned how to rebuild engines, transmissions, carburetors, you name it. I drove it for three years, then sold it for $100.

My vote for the most influential car would be the 1957 Chevy. It's still the most influential, most recognizable, and most desired car ever produced in the world. I'd like to invite the CR auto experts to cruise Broad Street with me on Saturday night. I'll be in my '57 Chevy convertible.

I can't imagine any list of the most influential cars that doesn't include the British Mini. Nearly all cars today have a transverse engine and front-wheel drive, a configuration pioneered by the Minim the 1950s.
