Chinese athletes aim to make a big splash at the 10th World Swimming Championships, being held in Barcelona, Spain July 13-27.
After reaping 10 golds, six silvers and four bronzes at the 2001 Fukuoka event, China emerged as the second biggest winner just behind swimming powerhouse Australia. And this year, China expects more hardware.
"We have more medal hopefuls in this year's Worlds, especially in swimming," said Chinese Swimming Association (CSA) Director Li Hua after announcing the 66-member roster for next month's event.
