Jakarta, July 16 (ANTARA) - The interest rate on loans for the domestic procurement of ships facilitated by a non-bank financial institution, in order to be effective, should be kept to a maximum of seven or eight percent, a maritime official said.

"An interest rate above that maximum will render the entrepreneurs unable to repay, thus resulting in the failure of the non-bank financial institution concerned to help develop the national shipping industry," a member of the Indonesian Maritime Council, Elly Rasdiana Sudibjo, told ANTARA here on Wednesday.
